1. Information We Collect

At World of Anime, we collect only the information necessary to provide you with a social community experience. This includes:

  • Registration Data: Your chosen username, email address, and date of birth.
  • Technical Data: Your IP address is recorded at the time of registration and at each login (login history).
  • Optional Profile Data: You may optionally provide your Name, Gender, a bio ("About Me"), and lists of your Favorite Anime and Movies.
  • User-Generated Content: Optional status updates (now doing, reading, watching, playing), image gallery uploads, and public comments/replies.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Authentication: Your email is used to identify you and facilitate login through our 3rd party authentication service (Firebase).
  • Protection of Minors: Date of birth is required for eligibility verification but is never displayed on the site.
  • Optional Display: Your Age and Profile information (Name, Gender, etc.) are only displayed if you choose to provide them. By default, they are hidden or unset.
  • Site Improvement: We use Google Analytics to analyze website traffic and user behavior to help us improve the platform.

3. Privacy of Communications

Private Messages: You can send private messages to users with whom you have a friendship. "Private" in this context refers to visibility in the user interface (only the sender and recipient can see the message). Please note that private messages are not stored encrypted in our database.

4. Data Control and Deletion

We provide users with significant control over their data:

  • Content Deletion: You can delete any content you post, any content posted on your profile (including comments by others), and any private messages you send or receive.
  • Message Deletion Note: When a private message is deleted, it is removed from the view of both the sender and the recipient.
  • Account Deletion: You can delete your account via the Settings page. This will permanently remove your comments, galleries, images, friendships, and private messages.
  • Retention After Deletion: After account deletion, identifying information is blanked out and your Firebase UID/IP addresses are removed. The record is retained in a "Deleted" state only to prevent the re-use of your username and email address.

5. Safety and Security

We encourage users to never provide personally identifiable information in their public profiles. The site provides blocking features and reporting tools to help you manage your privacy and safety within the community.

6. Right to Terminate

World of Anime is a personal hobby site, and is being provided "as-is" without warranty of any kind. There is no obligation for the site to remain online, and it may be taken offline at any time with or without notice.

World of Anime reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the Service (or any part thereof) at any time with or without notice. You agree that World of Anime shall not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.

In the event that World of Anime ceases operations, all personal information and user data will be permanently and securely deleted from our servers, and will not be sold or transferred to any third party.
