Introducing Online Status, and Who's Online! Another feature from the original World of Anime, I'm hoping it will help the community be active and grow together.
Now on your profile, it shows your "Last seen" time. If you are currently online (defined as active within the last 15 minutes), it shows you as "Online now" Please note you can go into your profile and uncheck "Show my online status", and this will not be shown.
In addition to that, there is now a "Who's online" page, which you can find in the navbar. This shows who is currently online, along with showing you the most people that were ever online at once. This has only been live and tracking for a couple of days, so if there were ever more people online before that date, it won't know about it.
Let's see how active we can get the site, and keep trying to raise the "Most ever online" number!

Whats the worst anime you’ve ever watched
Mine was law of Ueki. Although umineko and higurashi are up there, those were my sis’ favorite animes.
Danganronpa: The Animation. It was extremely close to blasphemy and an insult to the source material. However, it gave me a lot of good gifs so I can't complain too much.
Idk if I’ll get hate for this, but Evangelion lmao, it was so hard to get into. It took me like 7 tries to even get through 4 episodes. I just don't really like the male lead... He made it hard to watch. I don't know why, honestly. I forget which episode I stopped on, but I didn't finish it because I just couldn't.
Honestly, I feel the same about Evangelion. lol I couldn't get through it either.
Excel Saga has to be pretty high up there for me.
Oreimo and Eromanga Sensei. I suffered and seen some things
I also felt that way about Evangelion. I wanted to like it so bad since it’s a classic.

So, I was meal prepping for the next day at my job, we prepared meals for university students. I was basically a lunch lady, but not quite... anyway. Regardless, it was the last week before summer break (we had the summers off), and we ran out of turkey. We weren't getting any more delivered because why would we? Any unused bulk food would just go to waste.
They told me to replace it with something else so the tray wouldn't be empty, but there was nothing to replace it with. We didn't have extra meat because we only had enough for the other stations, enough fruit for their respective spots, etc. So, I decided to get creative. *
Thanks to my creativity, I got a ton of complaints from the older women I worked with. They said I was unprofessional and wasn't taking the job seriously. I was the talk of the workplace for the rest of the week and even at the start of the new school year. My managers thought it was hilarious, though, so I consider it a win.

Are you guys going to get persona 4 revival once it comes out next year or wait until its on sale
This is a series that, although I have a version of each of the games, I have never played yet. I really need to get to it some day.
I have both the original PS2 version of Persona 4 along with Persona 4 Golden for Vita, so I doubt I would buy another version.
Most likely not buy. P4G is just fine and I hate the art in Revival.
I'm looking out for persona 6, I might play it when it goes on sale in the future

Kind of what Kira said, really depends on the vibe. If the dubbed version feels better / matches the characters to me, then I'll watch it dubbed. But also like LD.. It's just mostly been subbed.

Keeping a dedicated, cozy space like WOA thriving takes deliberate care and real passion. In a sea of fast paced, noisy social networks, having a true community thats not a social network grounded in respectful discussions and solid rules is rare, and it's something worth fighting to keep alive.
To help answer Meeko's question on how to keep things moving and bring in fresh faces, the biggest focus should be on making it as easy and welcoming as possible for people to jump in. When someone new signs up, giving them a quick, low-pressure way to break the ice like a pinned weekly thread where veterans jump in to say hi or a quick profile prompt asking for their top three anime goes a long way toward turning a lurker into a regular. Also keep in suggestions going for Meeko to think of. Any suggestion is a good suggestion. (Unless its about how to get a twin sibling)
Building around regular, simple events gives everyone a concrete reason to log in. Seasonal anime discussions, or relaxed creative prompts for writing and fan art give passive members something to look forward to without feeling like a chore.
When it comes to bringing in new members, leaning into what makes the site special is key. Modern social media can feel chaotic and toxic, so highlighting WOA as a safe, close knit sanction community, with great standards is a huge selling point for fans looking for genuine connection. Encouraging current members to invite friends who appreciate that kind of environment can help grow the site organically with people who actually fit the vibe. Woa gave me so many friends that I've kept and still talk to basically everyday since 2011. I will definitely do whatever I can to help Meeko keep his site active. Will you? (That sounded cheesy)
These are great ideas! I have often thought it would be helpful to create a user guide for the site, highlighting what the site has to offer. Kind of like a "World of Anime 101" course. Then dropping the link to new members as they join.

I agree about reactions being more associated with social networking, specifically popularity, which is why I have not built them into this site.
I have been thinking about this and trying to come up with a way to implement them that would not just promote popularity. I don't want people to just be "chasing likes" That's exactly the kind of thing I hate about social networks. If I could find a way to implement it in a community oriented manner, I would consider it.
I have been working on something that I think will help foster community, that I hope will be ready soon. It's the "Who's Online" page along with the "Last seen" on your user profile page, just like what was in the original WoA. Hopefully seeing other people online at the same time as you can help encourage community and communication.
You could reintroduce the point system, but this time let users pay for reactions with points. That way users will be careful with reactions and only use them on something they actually want. You know something similar to what Steam does? And make a user's points only visible to them. I feel like this would lower the chances of popularity becoming an issue.
LD's idea about Steam-like idea is good, using emotes instead of reactions for comments (which are essentially the same thing for steam lol they are like stickers you can use in chats, or comments). I constantly find myself typing :shrug: like I do on Discord as well. While I know we can already post our own GIFs and images, I think having actual native emotes on the site would be awesome. I don't think it would cross into 'social network' territory any more than GIFs and images already do. It's also something I personally want, though I'm not sure if it would boost overall engagement. LMAO
I kind of like the idea of bringing back a point system, and allowing you to use those points for things. I will let the idea roll around in my head for some time and see what comes out of it.
