Hi there! It doesn't look like you're a member of World of Anime yet. (Either that or you aren't logged in)
If you are not a member, we'd love to have you! Please join the world's best anime community site, and start having fun today!
Welcome to World of Anime!
World of Anime is an anime community site created just for anime fans, and the best place for meeting new friends who all share your love of anime!
In my continued effort to give people an easy way to see what World of Anime members are up to, and find people to connect with, I have created the World of Anime Community page.
This page gives you an overall view of everyone's Now Actions (the ones you set on your profile), everyone who has created a customized profile, written a blog, written an anime review, created a watchlist, joined a group, asked or answered a question, or has uploaded an image to a gallery.
There are also quick links in each section for you to do those actions yourself, to help contribute to the community.
There is also a link to the advanced member search where you can look through all World of Anime members, and search by name, gender, about me, and favorite anime, movies, or video games.
You can find this page by going to the community icon in the top navigation bar (next to chat) or by clicking "Community" in the dropdown menu.
I hope you find this feature helpful in seeing what the community is doing, and helps you find people to connect with. As always, I hope you all enjoy World of Anime!
The old World of Anime was not moderated to the extent that it should have been. Its largely "anything goes" environment attracted the wrong crowd of people and created an overall negative and hostile environment that eventually led me to taking the site down for my overall mental health. I will not allow that to happen again.
Read the Code of Conduct to see what is acceptable on the site. This site is intentionally a positive, safe, and friendly environment, and content that is not fulfilling of that mission is not welcome.
Because your blogs are gross and disgusting and should never have been written out at all. Meeko has been more than fair with you and has given you multiple chances at this point to stop. You need to be respectful and stop posting offensive material, and in my humble opinion, seek professional help.
When you post a blog, it sends a notification to all of your friends with a link to the blog. It also shows up on the homepage as the latest blog post. The point of the site is to be an open community and as a result content is visible to many people.
As for fairness, you are totally missing the point. I am trying to cultivate a certain type of community with a certain type of atmosphere. I know firsthand from experience what happens when you allow near complete freedom and it doesn't end well.
The original World of Anime ended because of the excessive leniency. The last year or so was very draining on me, trying to please every side and get people to calm down and ignore the problem users while also allowing the people who were causing trouble to continue. I think there were users that wanted to see just how far they could push things.
It was a difficult decision to shut down the old World of Anime, but it was a very peaceful and calming time for me afterwards. While I missed running the site and providing the opportunity for the community to find and engage with each other, I did not miss the drama one bit.
After I made the decision to begin a new chapter of World of Anime, all during the development of the site I kept a bit of doubt as to whether I really wanted to do this, because of the feelings I had towards the end of the last site. This is why I am so adamant on keeping the atmosphere positive and friendly. That is the only way this site is going to work.
This is my third version of the site. I know from experience what caused the first 2 to end, so I am doing everything I can to prevent those things from happening again. I am not dealing with the drama again. I will shut the site down again before allowing myself to be overcome with the drama of problem users.
You can complain all you want about not being "fair", but its not going to change. This is a community site and it has a Code of Conduct that users are expected to follow. If you don't like the rules, I'm sure you can find another site that will let you post whatever content you want. It is not welcome here.
...and starting next month, you will need to have a subscription to purchase from their store. I used to love Crunchyroll, but corporate greed is ruining them and every other corporation out there. Pay to play is the direction the world is going. Corporations don't want people to own anything anymore. The more they take the more power they have over people. The direction of the world seems to be going in a very Cyberpunk: Edgerunners direction. Collect what interests you. If you're not entirely sure tell an AI to help you find anime that have themes that interest you or look up anime genera's and sub-genera's. Meeko is right, if you want access to something permanently, buy physical and if you have the means back it up. Large capacity hard drives are cheap these days and software like DVDFab are a relatively inexpensive way to back up your collection.
Hi, welcome to the site!
If you don't mind me asking, what specifically do you find weird? And which site do you mean by the "old one"?
This site is built much more in the spirit of the original World of Anime (2009-2015) When you say the "old one", are you referring to 2015-2020? If so, it is going to be much different than that because that was a bland, off the shelf social networking site.
World of Anime is not a social networking site, it is an anime community site. I'm always trying to make things better, and I am always open to suggestions. So if you have any suggestions for how I can improve the site, please let me know. Thanks!
Introducing the World of Anime Database!
This is a feature that was in the original World of Anime, but it works quite different now. On the original site, titles and episodes had to all be manually input by users. Now the database builds itself as you search for anime.
As you are searching anime titles for your watchlist and reviews, it is building a database of anime titles and episodes. You can now see all of the anime titles in the database by clicking on the Database link in the dropdown menu.
You can either browse all titles, or browse by genre or theme.
For each title, you will see its name, type, number of episodes, when it aired, its ratings from World of Anime members, how many watchlists it is on, and if there have been any reviews written for it.
You can click on each title to go to its full info page with episodes list. From here you can rate it yourself, add episodes to your watchlist, or write a review.
If you don't see the anime you are looking for in the browse view, you can search for it with the search box at the bottom of the page. Searching for it will also add it to the World of Anime database so in the future it will be found by browsing. The more you search for anime, the bigger the database grows!
I hope you enjoy this feature, and please use it as much as possible. Just using it helps the content grow and become more useful. I would like if you would add episodes to your watchlist and write reviews, but even without doing that, you can just click on titles and quickly give them a rating.
Just wanted to let everyone know that anime search should be working reliably now in all places it is used (Watchlist, Reviews, etc...)
Please feel free to fill up your watchlist with what you have seen. And if you could please write some reviews for anime you have watched, I would appreciate it.
Thanks for being patient while I worked out the issues with anime search. There are some more features on the site coming in the future that will make use of this anime search, so it was important for me to get it working right.
