Welcome to World of Anime!
World of Anime is an anime community site created just for anime fans, and the best place for meeting new friends who all share your love of anime!
I am very happy to announce a brand new feature on World of Anime - Watchlists!
With this feature, you can now compile a list of anime you have watched, and they will show up on your profile page.
This is a major step in being able to find people with similar interests, or who have shared similar anime viewing experiences as you. You can easily view a users entire watchlist, and by clicking on the anime title, you can also see which other members have it on their watchlist.
To start building your watchlist, just click on the new "Watchlist" item in the dropdown menu. You will see your watchlist here which you can view, edit, or add to. There is a filter box which will filter your watchlist down in real time, as your watchlist grows. To add new anime to your watchlist, use the "Manage Watchlist" button.
You will once again see the anime you have watched, along with a search box at the top. Search for anime here. The search uses the Jikan API which is an unofficial proxy for MyAnimeList.
Click on a title to view information about it, and you can add the episodes you have watched (or use the Select All checkbox to easily add all) Then click Update Watchlist.
When looking at a watchlist (either your own or another member's) you can click on a title to see information about it, along with an Episode List and Watchlists tab. On the Episodes tab, it will show how many of the episodes you have watched. You can click that button to go into edit mode to edit the episodes that are on your own watchlist. This makes it super easy to add new episodes as you are watching a series. You can also click the Watchlists tab to see a list of all members who have this title on their watchlist.
I hope you enjoy this feature! By keeping your watchlist up to date it should make it a lot easier to see what others have watched and find people who have watched the same anime as you. Hopefully this becomes a great conversation starter for meeting new people and making new friends!
Announcing the biggest new feature to come to the new World of Anime yet - Anime Groups! You can access this on the dropdown navigation bar under "Groups"
This was a major piece of the original World of Anime and I am so happy to bring it back for the new World of Anime!
Anime Groups are a great way for you to join a community of people who share similar interests. If you don't see a group that fits you, you can start your own!
All groups have their own group profile page with comments and replies.
All groups have their own image galleries.
All groups have their own chat! This works just like the main World of Anime chat but is restricted just to members of the group.
All groups can be customized with their own appearance, similar to the way that user profile's can be customized. A new customization I have added is Cursor, which you can use to create a custom cursor that users will see on your group.
(Note: Some people find custom cursors to be incredibly annoying, so to counter that I have added another new setting all users can set. Go to Settings and you will see a checkbox called "No Custom Cursors" If you set that, then you will not see customized cursors)
There are 3 types of groups - Public, Request, and Private
Public - Anyone can join at any time. Groups will show up on the main Groups page and search.
Request - Users must request to join a group. An admin of the group must approve or reject the request. Groups will show up on the main Groups page and search.
Private - Users must be invited to a group by a group admin in order to join. These groups will not show up on the main Groups page or search.
On user profile pages, you will see a new section called Groups which lists all groups the user belongs to. This is a great way for you to find and connect with people who have similar interests to you, and a way to find new groups to join. Note that private groups you are a member of will not show up in this list.
I hope you like this feature. I have spent a long time working on it, and I believe it is one of the fundamental pieces of World of Anime long term.
