Just wanted to let everyone know that there will be new features coming to World of Anime over time. This is an entire new platform, and what you are seeing now is the minimum I felt it was ok to launch the site with.
I didn't want to fall into the trap of trying to cram in way too many features before launch and just delaying the site over and over again. I wanted to get it out for people to see and start using. But I'm already working on more features to add, and I will be adding them one at a time as they are ready. I have a pretty good sized list written down of things I want to add.
I hope you keep enjoying the site, and look forward to what is coming. As always, if you have any specific suggestions, you can use the Contact Us form at the bottom of the site to let me know. I'm always open to hearing new suggestions.
Some of the ideas for things I have planned to add to the site are:
- Customizable profile pages (banner, background, fonts, colors, styles, etc...)
- User search (ability to find people easier based on their profiles)
- Anime Answers (User Question & Answer section)
- Fan Fiction
- Anime Groups
These are all things that eventually made it into the original World of Anime, and I would love to get them all in here as well.
Another idea for something I would love to have on here would be Anime Links - a curated and organized web directory of links to anime web sites.
I'm trying to decide if something like this is even worth doing in 2026 since so few people make anime fan sites anymore. But I was a big fan of Anipike in the late 1990s, and loved the Internet culture back then of people making their own web sites and linking to each other.
I have done some searching and I have found more personal anime fan sites than I thought would have existed, so maybe something like this could work again if given a chance. I would love to bring it back. I'm a big fan of old school stuff and people building and showing off their own stuff.
Damn, meeko, I forgot about most of those. But yeah, those were the glory years back in '09. Even back then there were more anime social sites, but WOA was always the cozy and minimalist one. Didn't the original WOA also have blogs? That would be nice to see come back. But I'm excited sounds like we are going to get as close to the possible as the original WOA. Just don't forget spoiler tags for Anime Answers wouldn't want to stumble on any accidentally. And customizable profiles I don't know if you remember how creative we used to get with those back in the day but those are some of my fondest memories.
