Your First Anime

What is the first anime you can remember watching? And what is the show that really got you into the genre? While I watched a lot of cartoons as a kid, I don't really recall watching any anime. I know I would watch the opening to Speed Racer, just because I liked the song, but then I would turn it off and didn't actually watch it. The show that definitely got me into anime was Sailor Moon.

I want to say it was Tokyo Mew Mew. I watched it on Saturday mornings when there was a showing of Saturday cartoons. I didn’t really get into anime and manga until I was about 12 and it got me through some really hard times. Then around that time I really got into Naruto, Bleach, InuYasha, and whatever was showing on Toonami and Adult Swim at that time. Every Saturday when a new Naruto episode aired, I would put on my Naruto shirt and grab snacks. It was my weekly ritual that I remember fondly.
