World of Anime - One Month Check In

Its been 1 month since the new World of Anime went live, and I'm wondering - what is everyone thinking of it? What features are your favorites, and what are some things you think could be improved? What are some completely new features you would like to see added to the site? I am super happy to have been able to bring this new version of the site to you. It resurrects the spirit of the original site, and I look forward to growing the site, bringing new features to it, and watching it grow over time and bringing fans of anime together as a place to just hang out and chill.

Okioki so everything has been super amazing!! One thing that I would like, would be the ability to like things! Like pictures and posts and ect.

The decision to not have likes or other reactions was a purposeful decision, and is one that I mentioned why when I wrote the text for the "About World of Anime" page. World of Anime is not a social networking site, it is a community web site. I don't like social networking sites, I think they are a bad thing for mental health and an overall negative to society. Having content be able to be "liked" creates an artificial popularity contest. People strive to only post things they think will be popular and people start comparing them to others in terms of "likes". In actual social networking sites, they start using the like counter to push content to people that is popular, and it creates a negative overall environment where the popular people win and the people who aren't popular lose. People start comparing themselves to others over numbers that in the end don't really mean anything. Sorry if my explanation got a bit long. Just wanted to provide an explanation for why the ability to like content is not there.

All of the features that was in the original you brought back and the new profile customization wish you would add voice chat but the text chat is good in itself

Profile customization is my favorite! But I also like the chat. I thought it would be cool to have a watchlist/read list so we can easily share what we have seen rather than just our favorites. That may also help if we wanna give anime/manga recommendations or an ice breaker like “oh I’ve seen you read this manga and was wondering what you thought of so and so.” But I’m not sure how this would be implemented. I dunno if that would be considered redundant so I am curious of your thoughts. Just an idea though :3

The watchlist is a great idea, and something that has been going around my head in various forms for some time. I will probably add something like that in the future, at this point I'm not sure how the implementation of it will look. It's going to take some time to work that out.

I've just added the Watchlist feature. This was a great recommendation! Hopefully this becomes a great conversation starter for meeting new people and making new friends.

Being able to jump scare people again with the random coded music on your profile (not actuallyscare people). I was going to say groups, but I was told that you are already working on that. Also, you just enabled being able to do the images/gifs in the comments.

Yes, Group is a *big* feature that will eventually come. And I would say that *not* being able to auto-play music on your profile is a feature in itself.
